World premiere during the Utrechts Requiem Lustrum concert – Let Someone Carry Me
for oud, vocal ensemble & chamber ensemble
On Sunday midday, Let Someone Carry Me, a new composition by Calliope Tsoupaki set to a poem by Nisrine Mbarki, the current Poet of the Netherlands, will receive its world premiere at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.
The piece is presented as part of Spiegels, a project by Stichting Utrechts Requiem, which brings together six real-life stories, seven writers, and seven composers to explore themes of identity, loss, resilience and connection. Through texts by acclaimed authors — including Arthur Japin and Nisrine Mbarki — and music by distinguished composers, the concert reflects on human stories. At the heart of the work are people who wish to take part in our shared society, even as the door is not always open to them.
The premiere takes place during the Utrechts Requiem concert on Sunday, 8 February 2026, in the Hertz zaal at TivoliVredenburg.
Join us for an unforgettable afternoon with a.o. the exceptional vocalists and musicians Utrechts Requiem organisation directed by Ellen Blom.
