Calliope Tsoupaki

Lecture Wednesday 9th of February

Coming Wednesday 9 of February I will be giving a lecture @ Brussels Arts Platform and Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel about my composing approach focusing on the creation of “ODYSSEUS” a half hour of audiovisual journey, specially composed for Asko|Schönberg ensemble.
During the performance the a breathtaking image by Awoiska van der Molen is projected slowly evolving in its own magic way. Both image and music are following their own autonomy and non linear paths. The premiere luckily took place @ November Music Festival . All our concerts luckily escaped the Corona grip and took place at Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ TivoliVredenburg but even with all the good luck we had to cancel the last performance @ de Doelen large hall due to the unavoidable lockdown.
I can’t wait to talk about all this how I made it, how we worked with Awoiska, how it was to work during Corona, if this has played a role in the creative process, how it is to have the first planned premiere and tour postponed and of course to show fragments and finally discuss! It is a lot for one and a half hour lecture time….
